Bottle Slumping --
Removing Labels from Bottles
This is part two of a
two part tip on removing labels from bottles prior to slumping.

Here are a few more suggestions for removing labels from bottles
prior to slumping the bottles in a kiln.
4. Fill the wine bottle with water, then put it in the
microwave. Then just heat until the glue softens and the label
comes off.
5. Try a solvent such as "De-Solve-It" or "Undo" (US
based brands). Simply spray the solvent on the label, then wait
fifteen minutes. The label should slide off easily.
Natural solvents will work better for this than petroleum based
solvents.
6. Some labels are actually decals or stickers and won't
come up by soaking or similar methods. For these, the best
option is to steam and then use the edge of a knife or spatula to
gently peel the label off.
